Breaking News

Natongan President Goodwill Hunter has made a statement to the countries press. Amidst the recent attacks outside the capital, he assured his fellow countrymen that everything would be fine and that the Natongan Paratroopers had been deployed across the country, mostly around hotspots of Natongan Liberation Army (NLA) activity.

He was quoted as saying: 'I, like every other Natongan, wish to ensure the safety of my brothers and sisters. I will not stand by whilst they are kidnapped, murdered, and tormented by these people- I can't even call them people, these animals, plain and simple terrorists. I make this promise to you today, to members of the public who have gathered here at the palace, and to members of the press, I have signed documents to deploy our troops to several hotspots around the country. Mostly in the countryside surrounding the capital, as well as troops stationed at the border. We have some of the continents finest men protecting us, and I promise you, my brothers and sisters, that you shall be able to sleep without fear, for God and our troops are forever protecting you.'

Our reporter also noted the president's emotions as he recited the above. His family stood by his side and looked visibly shaken after the recent bomb scare at the presidential palace. His son, a serving member of the Natongan Defence Force, will apparently be deployed in the North East of the country.

When more news breaks, we'll deliver it right to you straight from the Capital.

Made My Mind Up

After a long think, and a few episodes of Only Fools & Horses later, I've decided on starting my African ImagiNation. This will be in 15mm using Peter Pig's excellent AK47 range, as well as QRF and possibly Battlefront (for vehicles, mostly).

The setting will be in a fictional West African country going through a bitter civil war between government forces and an extremist group who wish to liberate the people of Natonga. There will also be Western intervention in the form of the British. Think Sierra Leone. This'll be the first time I've started a project with a narrative so I'm hoping this goes well. I'll probably start the government forces first, then the British, and finally the Terrorists/Freedom Fighters/Liberaters, and unaligned militia.

I don't know when this project will officially start but I'm hoping its soon.

Cheers for reading.

Decisions, Decisions.

I've been contemplating what to do exactly as far as this hobby of ours goes. I've thrown around a few ideas, periods etc. And have came up with a few particular ideas I like.

Firstly, I would really like to do a modern Africa setting (an ImagiNation). I plan on using AK47 rules for large scale battles, and Force on Force for smaller encounters. I toyed with the idea of an Eastern European ImagiNation, but I keep getting drawn back to Africa. Probably going to use 20mm for FoF and 15mm for AK47. This is the project I will most likely do first. I may start an individual blog for this, I'm undecided.

Secondly, I wanted to do something set in the Alternative Universe of Winter of '79, which is a brilliant blog. Possibly set in the North East and Borders. This blog was originally set up for this purpose, hence the name. For this, I will most likely do it in 20mm using Liberation Miniatures.

I also thought of wargaming either the French Indochina War, or the French Algerian War. The former in 28mm, the latter in 20mm.

I may do the Eastern European ImagiNation, however, because I've been collecting reference photos of Chechen Rebels and fighters in the Balkans. Serbs, Croats, Bosnians etc. I like the variety of the camos used. How they're mismatched and don't adhere to a strict uniform. This will be using Force on Force, and, possibly, AK47. Scale wise, I'll be using 20mm for both rule sets. But I doubt I'll use AK47 for this as I'm imagining small scale firefights in built up areas. Maybe one or two vehicles, APCs etc.

I don't have a gaming partner as of yet so there will be an abundance of battle reports.

Thanks for reading.
